Expert and Compassionate - Allergy Evaluation and Treatment
Over 60 million people in the United States suffer from allergies and the number is rising. Allergies are hypersensitive reaction of the immune system to a substance such as mold or pollen. This over reaction can cause debilitating symptoms such as runny nose, nasal congestion, itchy watery eyes, asthma and even gastrointestinal or skin disorders.
Evaluation of Allergies
Our office and experienced staff can perform same-day, extremely accurate allergy skin testing in our Vero Beach and Port Saint Lucie offices. You and your family can leave our office knowing exactly to what you are allergic.
Treatment of Allergies
The best treatment for allergy is avoidance – but that is not always possible . Prescribed medication such as antihistamines, anti-leukotrienes, decongestants inhaled nasal steroids, asthma inhalers monoclonal antibodies and other anti-inflammatory medicines are available. If enough relief can not be obtained, allergy immuno-therapy (allergy injections) may considerably reduce and in some cases completely eliminate allergy symptoms. This is known as allergy desensitization. Even after the injections are stopped, the results can last for many years. Allergy shots is the only treatment that targets the underlying causes of allergies and alters the natural course of the disease.
